If you are just beginner in bodybuilding then you don’t need BCAA supplements. Whey protein already contains BCAA. however, if you are an intermediate or advanced bodybuilder then taking additional BCAA will be helpful in gaining muscle.
BCAA contains three essential amino acids. They are – Leucine, Valine, and Iso-Leucine.
They are essential, means they can’t be produced by our body and must be acquired from food.

BCAA also used in a hospital setting to prevent or slow muscle loss and to improve a sign of liver disease.
However, because most people get enough of BCAAs through their diet, supplementing with BCAA is unlikely to give more benefits.
Why is BCAA important?
BCAA has many health benefits for the body:

- Each supplement comes with a mentioned serving size. Make sure that take it in order to prevent any side effects. One serving is mentioned for those who follow a regular workout. For those who are into grave bodybuilding, up to two servings per day are allowed. Mix one scoop with water for use.
- When you take BCAA, ensure that you stay hydrated. Drink a lot of water while you are working out if you take BCAA before starting.
BCAA is not recommended if:
- You are breastfeeding or are pregnant.
- You have health issues like ALS disease, it can even lead to lung failure in these cases.
- You are going to have surgery or are recovering from one, don’t use BCAA, as BCAA inhibit with the blood sugar levels and can lead to health issues.
